Slug (Leopard) Limax maximus

Limax maximus (literally big slug) is one of the largest kinds of keeled air-breathing land slug in the world and is the largest slug introduced to New Zealand from Europe. They ooze copious amounts of thick sticky slime and even my hens won’t eat them. I don’t blame them.

    • Wikipedia says ‘Limax maximus is omnivorous. It is a detrivore, cleaning up dead plants and fungi, and a carnivore known to pursue other slugs at a top speed of 15 centimetres (6 in) per minute.’

      The stuff of nightmares!!
