For this week’s Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #70, we’ve been invited to explore the world of monochrome–which includes black and white and sepia, as well as different shades of one color.
I don’t shoot black and white as a rule but after seeing contributions to this challenge, I’m inspired to have a go.
The sleek shape and glossy paintwork are given much more prominence with the colour removed from this picture of classic cars in Victoria, BC Canada,
The Government Buildings in Victoria, BC Canada are lit up with fairy lights the star burst moon can’t compete with.
This abandoned church on the western slopes of the Canadian Rockies looks even more dilapidated without colour. And you notice details, like the door is ajar.
Patti also challenged us to try adding a bit of colour to a black and white photo so I painted light in the globes of this street lamp.
The sun rose behind me and the moon began it’s descent in front, painting a blue dawn in the Inside Passage, Alaska
And then there’s a feather.
Nice selection of shots. They all work really well for this challenge. Love the textures of the feather.

Thanks Su. Funny how you notice texture much more without colour, isn’t it. We’re so easily distracted. 🙂

The light reflected on the blue rippled water is so lovely! All of the light on the water is from the moon I suppose?

Thank you Liz. Yes it is all from the moon. I’m really happy with it. The light changed in minutes so it was very much a case of right time, right place.

Lol. There wasn’t much skill in it Sue. I just point and shoot most of the time. I’m very slowly trying a few different settings.

Love monochrome and your night shot Wendy is superb. It’s getting that contrasting light to emphasis the lines. Lovely 🙂

I didn’t read the other comments until now and now see I wasn’t very original with my descriptive word 🙄😊
