Meet the residents: wattle moth – pepe atua

New Zealand has 1,700 moth species, most of them native. This one, however flew or was blown over from Australia but has been here a long time and was known to early Maori.

I couldn’t find this one in my bug book and couldn’t pin it down from the hundreds that are online so if you know what it is, I’d love to know.
