I’m feeling rather pleased with myself. Ever since I bought the new camera, I’ve tried without success to get a half decent picture of our kokako. Usually, having a camera on your person in the bush is a pretty efficient bird deterrent but today luck was on my side. I spent 40 minutes following this bird around until finally I got these shots. There are many others, blurry, too dark, too light, too late but patience pays dividends.
This bird is, or was, one of a pair. It has been a long time since we have seen two though and I fear it may have lost it’s partner. We just can’t seem to score a win this season.
