A couple of weeks ago we enjoyed a family trip to the World of Wearable Arts (WOW) in Wellington. And if you have never been, I urge you to go! It will blow your mind and leave you going …. well, ‘wow!’ Because words just can’t describe the spectacle.
“WOW is an internationally renowned design competition that attracts entries from over 40 countries. Anything that is wearable art can find a place on the stage, as long as it is original, innovative and well executed.
For three weeks every year, WOW showcases the best of these creations in a spectacular show that takes over New Zealand’s vibrant capital city of Wellington in an explosion of creativity. This year 60,000 people will see the show.”
The stage displayed the competition finalists, dancers and acrobats, sometimes all at once so you could never quite take it all in. Creativity, originality, talent, music, movement, colour and light – it was a work of art and threatened sensory overload for 2 hours without pause. What can I say except, “WOW!”
